Rear mount turbo video

I blame both of you for my rear mount mod!!!

Bybeed.....what muffler do you run on yours?

In these videos there is actually no exhaust... ha ha ha I just have the "downpipe" off the back of the turbo on there (12" L x 3" D).

Since then I threw on a magnaflow I picked up for cheap, did a custom dual exhaust set up on there and HATE IT. I was thinkin the magnaflow would give it more of a throaty sound, but it turned it into a hybrid. Its so quiet now and you can barely hear the turbo spool :/ I think I am going to take it off!

Exact reason I didn't put a muffler after the turbo. I just have exhaust pipe after the turbo and out the side of the bumper. I like the loud turbo whistle and it is a head turner and conversation starter for sure.

My brother in law has an 01 Tacoma with the true STS kit installed and he has an exhaust pipe just like you and it sounds great! Going to go that route as soon as I have time to do it!

What pump are you using to scavenge the oil back to the motor?

What pump are you using to scavenge the oil back to the motor?

I used a Mocal diaphragm pump at first but it only lasted about a year. Switched to a gear pump and it's been fine ever since.

Check out the shurflo 8000-643-210 pump.....its highly recommended by a lot of turbo guys....that's what I run. Around $100, so not too expensive either.

Do you remember which air filter that is? Or what it came out of? I remember reading through your build thread that it was some type of caterpillar filter.

It was a Cat filter but I don't remember the part number or what it fit. I don't have it anymore or I would go take a look for you.

I just have a cone filter on it now. Took the snorkel off when the rear bumper went on and never got around to putting the snorkel back on.
