REAR O2 sensor stuck!!!

All I have searched and searched but found no threads on the REAR O2 sensor.

I have rounded mine (almost) and this thing is STUCK! Any tips on getting this thing off? I've heated til cherry red, I have soaked it in pb blaster and tried to crank it off with a crescent wrench and nothing, I then got out the vice grips and still nothing.. I think got out the grinding wheel and cut off the wires from the bolt in there. Any ideas or tips?? Plz help so frustrated with this thing..

Is the problem now just that you can't get a good grip and your wrench/vice grips slip? Or it just won't turn? If the crescent wrench will hold it get a big enough metal pipe to slip over the end of the wrench and use as a breaker bar. Probably will need a lift to make that work, it's at a weird angle I know.

I did mine recently and got one of those sockets with the slot in it to fit around the wires. Totally useless, it didn't round the sensor thankfully, instead the socket warped out to the point where it was too big and just spun around the sensor, lol. So don't bother with that either.

If you're doing this for the P0136 code, check the connector the sensor plugs into. That's what ended up being the problem for me after I replaced the sensor. One of the wires and frayed and pulled out of the rear of that connector.

Lol, well the issue with that is I grinded off the entire sensor itself...So this thing HAS to come off! All that's left is the bolt threaded into exhaust here...

Now that you have the wires cut you can put a regular deep socket on it. if there's room, I can't tell from the pic. 6 point if you have it unless you've already messed up the hex on the sensor too much. And just for the sake of saying it, when you're under a vehicle and looking sideways it can get confusing sometimes so make sure you're turning lefty loosey.

Do you have to reset the engine codes in order to see if all is wel now?

I ended up going to Advanced Auto Parts and getting the actual socket for O2 sensor (rented for free). I had my younger cousin get under it and force it off with brute strength. He basically got the breaker bar in a bench press position and pushed up extremely hard and loosened it free!

So relieved its out and the new sensor is in!

My new question is: Do I have to reset the engine light in order to see the fruit of my labor? OR should this go off automatically after putting in the good sensors?

I went ahead and reset the codes, I guess I drive 100+ miles to see if it comes back on or not?

Either works. The ECU is smart enough to know you switched the sensor and is giving a correct reading now.

And yeah, probably should have just spent the $6 on the socket in the first place. There's a tool for everything!
