Rear rotor swap, parking brake stuck ?

I am having a difficult time replacing the rear rotors on my 06 v8...First off, I would like to say I'm mechanically inclined and have changes rotors on several different vehicles without difficulty. However, when I try and pull the rotor off, the parking brake assembly gets in a bind and wants to come off with it. I don't have a service manual for this vehicle, but I do plan to get one. Both sides act like the parking brake is engaged, I assure you it is not. Does the manual say to disconnect the parking brake cable before removing the rotors? Also I have never seen a vehicle that won't allow access to the adjusting star for the parking brake without removing the entire rotor. Is there a "trick" to replacing the rotors that I seem to be forgetting ?

I can't really help you but just wanted to say I changed all 4 of mine two weeks ago and didnt have any trouble.

When you remove the rear wheels, look at the face of the disc hub. You will see two large (about 1/2") holes directly opposite each other. Rotate the disc until they are at six and twelve, and you should see an inner hole line up at the six position. Using a thin screwdriver, you can access the star-wheel adjuster for the parking brake shoes to turn it to loosen the rear shoes which will then allow the disc to be removed. After installing the new disc, use the same method to adjust the parking brakes before mounting the wheels.
