Rear Seat Release Knob

Well, I've lost one and the other sits so low/tight to the seat it's difficult to grasp and pull up to release the seat.

Is there a better option?

If I decide the jerry rig it, what size bolt is it screwing into?

if its way down into the seat then youll need to take the bracket off and bend the rod back up. its really easy to fix, first you will have to tilt the rear seat forward then unscrew the knob all the way out. next youll see two bolts on the side of seat where the latch is pull the locking unit out then bend the rod back upwards till it sticks out of the top of the hole where the knob goes just a hair.
then reinstall the unit and screw the knob back on yourll be good to go!.

It screws onto a metal rod, which has sheet metal screw type threads.

That gets me to the point that it's easier to reinstall the knob I have.

However, I'm still short a knob.

Get a tube of that JBWeld clay, make your own. Get fancy with it.

First check the HELP section of your local auto parts store. The HELP (one brand) section sells generic replacement parts. Look for an old school round door lock knob.

Im sure your local auto parts store has some available knobs for sale. I am one knob short myself and was able to find it on Ebay for a crazy 20 dollars. No way im spending 20 for a knob.

i also am missing some i was thinking of making some nice aluminum ones to sell but i couldn't think of what people would like for the knob part.
any inputs and ill see if its feasible.
no skulls or piston heads thats just cheazy.

You're not gonna believe this.....

After spending $.61 at True Value Hardware on odd parts to jerry rig the missing knob, I drove home to fix it. But before I got started I dug through a few plastic storage bins in the garage hoping to find the second knob....and did!

Of course, I had the plastic doohickeys that hold the upholstery on the back of the seats flung all over the place. Time to clean up the truck and track them all down so I can button things up. Guess what? I found ANOTHER KNOB!!! Now I have a spare?!?!?!

So I was feeling pretty good and also happened upon the window crank knob that had fallen off the crank handle. It's a pretty simple problem...the center section of the knob snaps into the handle, but with age the tangs that hold it secure in the handle wear and it loses its grip. I needed a way to spread those tangs and improve their grip. So I got out a small drill bit, made a small guide hole in the center of the knob (from the back side), and drove a very small countersunk wood screw into the center. As the screw neared full insertion, the angled head pushed the tangs out just enough...so I just snapped it back in. It's holding okay, but doesn't spin as freely as normal so I'm not sure how long it'll last.

Feelin' pretty good here this evening. ;-)
