Rear shock hoop

Looks awesome. So your tires clear the out board shocks when flexed ?


Yeah, that's why they're so low. I've seen other setups where the shock is a lot higher, but the tire rubs when fully articulated. These don't rub when articulating. The tire goes above the shock. They rub the body very slightly when your hammering it through whoops.
 
Are you able to share the compressed and extended lengths of your rear shocks? Trying to work through the revamp of my rear suspension and am considering using the same rear TC lower shock mounts. Just wondering what compressed lengths you were able to fit.

If I am reading your original post right, and the specs for a 10" here are correct, That would put you at 11" travel at around 19.430 - .75" = 18.68" compressed length?

Factory Series 980-02-101 Dimensions:
2.5" Diameter
10.0" Travel
29.430" Extended
19.430" Collapsed

Am I looking at that right?

That's pretty close. Cutting 3/4 was pretty tight. I'd recommend no more than .5" if you modify the shock. Or look for a compressed length of around 18.68" + .25 = 18.93". Anything close to 19" you can work with. You can make up 1" just changing the angle of the shock. As you rotate the lower mount around the axle tube you'll see there can be a bit of variation in the shock length. To run the TC mount down like I did required quite a bit of clearancing on the mount to clear the end of the shock. The billet end of the shock would hit the mount during articulation.

Thank you very much for the info. I was considering running a welded rod end to shorten up the length a bit if needed so not sure I would have the same issues as the billet end with it being smaller overall. Any downsides to a welded end other than no way to replace the end itself if damaged? I definitely understand about how little changes on both ends can affect the numbers by a fair bit.

The welded end would probably work a little better as far as clearance goes. I don't see a downside to running a welded end. If you damage a shock end beyond repair, you probably need a new shock shaft anyway.
