Rear shock replacements bilstein 5160

I'm new to the site. In need of some help.
Not sure how to create a new thread. I'm currently installing my rear fox 2.5 remote reservoir with DSC on my 2017 4R TRD offroad. The install instructions say to install the supplied rubber spacer onto the vehicle lower mount and then connect the Fox shock using factory bolt. I do not have a supplied rubber spacer in any of the boxes. There is a 1/4 in gap between the bushing and the bolt. What do I do?! My car is in pieces, I have my moto to run and grab a part if I need. Wondering if anyone knows what part I need to buy or of it is really needed?

should be two rubber bushings for each shock, one goes on below and other on top and just tighten the nut to close any gap
 
Bummer, thank you for the input. I just followed up with the company who tuned them, Accutune, and they said they the package should have included the rubber spacers. They said that Fox will send me some hopefully within the week and that it'll be covered through the warranty since they failed to send it out with the original product. It's all installed with a small gap as of now but won't cause harm if I drive it for a couple weeks until I get the part and install it.

considering the following for the rear dobinsons IMS59-50701 and keep the 6112 up front .
 
any update? Did you go with IMS? I’m in the same boat

I didnt go with the IMS set up it sold before I could make a drive to buy it all. I replaced the 5160s with 5100s same shock just without the reservoirs. I sold the 5160s I bought from wheelers at a profit to cover the 5100s. Its a simple install and I recommend DIY it. The 6112s upfront are holding up well and till then Ill keep the set up.

I just purchased a 2022 TRD OffRoad and found some interesting suspension setup. Stock Front(48510-35440) and Rear (48530-35251) shocks, BUT they are paired with TOYTEC springs. Toytec Front 3" lift spring (521600). Toytec Rear 2" lift spring (RCC2.0).

Is this setup ok? My thought was shocks would need to be upgrade to match the extra travel.

Especially the rear, aren't the taller springs pulling the shocks to their max?

Any insights appreciated! I'm new'ish to this forum :)

OEM shocks are not designed to accommodate taller than OEM stock height springs.
Although you may not encounter issues mall crawling, that may be a different story if offroading.

Someone with more experience should chime in !

That was my thought as well.

The TOYTEC springs are likely over extending the stock rear shocks, right?

You cannot "over extend" the rear shock. The shock is what limits the downward travel of the rear axle, i.e. there is no bump stop in the downward direction. When the shock gets to the bottom, it stops. Thus, with a lift spring, you are limiting how far down the axle will travel, thus limiting the amount of articulation that is possible.

That is why you need rear shocks with increase travel so the axle can go down further, thus having the greatest amount of articulation of the rear axle.

So this combo of taller springs with stock shocks won't affect on road handling at all, it just limits off roading because the lost articulation potential?

Any time you raise a vehicle (taller springs) the center of gravity will change, thus the handling will change. If only an inch or two, it would be minimal.

But taller springs are most likely to be stiffer, thus the car will ride stiffer and that will affect handling.

But say you use the stock springs an just put a spacer at the top of them, which will raise the car. Same springs, same shocks, so the ride and the handling will be about the same as the OEM configuration. (It's called a spacer lift. You can do spacers on the front too, same results).

Thank you. I think I’ll just keep it as is for now and swap out the shocks next.
