Rear Steel Bumper for 4th Gen 4Runner

I'm considering building the rear bumper for 4th Gen 4Runner. I'm not sure if I can build it myself, so I'd like to talk to some aftermarket manufactures about it.
But before this, I'd like to find what the demand for it, if any is.
The bumper should looks something like Lance (GoodTimes)bumper:

Ok Karl, this becoming a serious issue. I called CanadaPost yesterday. My lights are stacked at customs for a week now. They couldn't clear it a week. So I do not want you to be waiting more. I'll start posting a review this weekend, but I'm making a note that project is not finished yet and need some time to get things shipped. It's so complicated when you start shipping through the border.

I cant wait to put a real tire carrier, shovel, hi lift, jerry can, etc...
on the rear of my 06 Limited V8! Right now the spare and hi lift are lashed to the rack!

Yes, I would really like one! However I think I read the write up on this bumper, do you have to do any major cutting or welding to install this bumper? Also can the tire be mounted higher up? thanks!

the exact bumper requires cutting the rear cross member of your frame. welding is always required when working w/ metal. though the bumper is completely bolt on once the rear of the frame is trimmed off.

the tire has been relocated to sit 12" higher than what is shown above. the original bumper i created ended up w/ some math screw ups by yours truly so I had to bend a new tube rear to get that all fixed. no final production tailgate available as it's sitting in my garage.

Cool, that sounds good, do you know about how much one of these bumpers will cost? Btw, your front fender flares are ment for the tacoma? I want to run a TC set up also but I could not find any fiberglass for the 4runner

keep in mind that I am not offering my bumper nor am I looking to build another one. This prototype took me approximately 11 months (just working on the weekends) to get this completed. I highly doubt anyone would be that interested and wait that long. Then again the other half would probably kill me for neglecting her if I do this again. I believe Alexjet is working with some vendors to see if anyone can create a similar bumper (not exact though). It won't be the same as the bumper shown above requires cutting the frame. Costs - I have no clue. I suspect a good rear bumper will cost anywhere from 1000-2500? depends on how much work is involved and how much accessories are added.

The front fenders are originally from the 05+ tacoma (Glassworks Unlimited) but requires "HEAVY" modifications. the hood is the only area it lines up but even at that it's off by a good 1/3-1/2". You'll need to raise the fender to match the hood line and modify the headlamp and the entire door jam area. Any body shop with fiberglass experience should be able to make something happen.

there's quite a few aftermarket parts available. just depends on what you're looking for. rear bumpers are virtually zero at this point unless you know a custom fabber that's interesting in building something for you personally.

I wish I could make up something like that myself, I made my own bumper for my tacoma I did'nt care for how it turned out. Hopefully someone will pick up the design for your bumper and make a small production of them. Its a good idea and I think if more people saw them there would be a greater demand for it.

It's not finished yet. As Lance stated custom fabrication takes weekends and weekends. I still have to finish building a tire carrier there with Hi-Lift brackets. Probably would be able to finish it by the end of January.

P.S. And yes, Lance you're right, my second half would kill me too if I'd be spending all free time with my truck. So it limits my work time to minimum, but I still continue to do some mods...
