I finally got around to pulling the indented covers over the wheel wells. After reading the various methods (thanks Harper and Antman) I decided the "brute force" method would be a lot faster than removing all of the rear panels. Anyways, before fully ripping them off, I found I could sneak my hand into the gap with a small screwdriver, and I was able to remove the screws without snapping those parts off. Probably makes no difference aside from taking one minute extra per side. Got a first aid kit on the driver side and left the passenger side empty for now.
