Rear Strut Top Nut Install Issues

Thanks, this post definitely helped. When I installed on my dad’s 05 Limited with Xreas, Bilstein didn’t include the washer below the mount, just the top and bottom ones. At the time I was trying to find out if I needed a washer before the mount as per the non-xreas diagram. I tried using the original bottom washer but the bushing is then too thick. I ended up not using one as there was the supposed built-in oval one.

Now 3 years later, doing the same on my 05 Limited and couldn’t figure why the bushing didn’t fit if using parts in order as supplied by Bilstein. The newer part number rear 5100 comes with « alignment washers », one for 4th gen and one for 5th gen. They have a collar that seats nicely in the hole after the xreas washer (which also has a collar) is removed. Can confirm for future readers that the xreas washer has a tab that seats into the mount, so check that too as you PB blast and pound away with a chisel. Mine was rusted where the collar seats into the mount hole. After wards, the top washer, bushing, and mount install nicely.

Also to note, as discussed in a separate thread, the new instructions indicate to install the washers so they don’t cup the bushings, which is opposite to original install and most other vehicles. As the OP of the other thread indicated, seemed weird despite calling Bilstein tech support and them saying as such.
