Rear Sunroof Drain Location

Hey all,

I've got what appears to be a clogged sunroof drain. Rear, passenger side.

I've figured out the front drains, but the rears have me stumped as for their location. The shop manual doesn't want to tell me anything, and searching only tells me about 3rd gen.

I've crawled under the truck looking for an outlet near where I saw the line in that one thread (Josh?) that showed a disassembled interior. Either I'm not looking hard enough, or it's not there. I've tried going in through the top, but I can't see where the opening is. The driver's rear is no problem. It's the passenger side that's giving me grief.

Assistance, please!

Edit: It looks like I might be able to access the end of the hose by removing the rear mudflap. Hopefully this is true. I'm not in the mood to play treasure map today.

The drain tube goes across the headliner and down the rear columns L&R.

If you look in the tire tools pocket you'll find the drivers side tubing, stands to reason the passenger side one is in behind the sub/stash area.


Low pressure air may remove the blockage, if you go high pressure you can blow the hose off its barb.

Correct -- I know where the hoses are routed -- but I can't seem to find the actual outlet of the hose so that I can run some weedwhacker string up there to roto-root it.

I really don't want to have to disassemble all that trim again. (Previous owner installed a custom subwoofer and amp in that area and it ALLLLLLLL has to come out to get to that hose.)

What's preventing you from working down from the drain up top? The weedwhacker line will go in, then work it down and thru.

What's preventing you from working down from the drain up top? The weedwhacker line will go in, then work it down and thru.

That was the first thing I tried. Not sure why, but it didn't work. I ended up removing everything, including dropping the headliner on that side.

The rear drain goes to a little white box with a barb on the end, and the drain tube connects to that. The box must have had some gunk built up in it because that's where the overflow was happening -- right at the top. The line was completely clear.

I really hope I got it right this time... I do not want to take this thing apart a fourth time.

By chance, does anyone have photos of a sunroof assembly removed from the vehicle? I want to learn more about this white "collection box" at the rear of the sunroof track.
