Rear suspension ?

From my experience they ride and handle similar to the 890s but the superflex maybe feeling a tad stiffer. I initially had boss shocks paired with 890s then swapped the 890s for the superflex to get a little more lift. If you have any experience with either the bilstein or boss + 890s on a stock body 3rd gen, the superflex will feel similar...atleast with pavement & occasional fire/dirt road driving.

Nah, a 1" rubber or poly spacer will have no effect on the shocks, other than acting as an additional bushing
 
I've said this time and time again, the LC OEM coils are a tad too stiff for our lighter trucks. The Monroes for the Land Cruiser works wonders though!

Your somewhat wrong imo. They are a little stiff unloaded but nothing harsh when installed on lc coils. If you plan on no bumpers or adding weight they may be a little stiff. But most actually add weight and they do great. Do really good in washboard. Funny the Monroe does good even designed for overweight LC?

I tore through Monroes on my bronco and Mitsubishi in less than a year in my non oem dumb days. Told myself never a Monroe again.

I talked with Steve at SS and he tested many setups and found tokicos as one of the best options. So you have tested rear shock setups more than him?

As my looks fade with older age, I am left with my super charming personality and a whopping penis, and I find myself asking if that is really enough; perhaps, perhaps. I'm also super bitter about the unfinished project, and like to take it out on the underlings of this forum.

I have only personally tested four shocks. I'll rate them in order of crappiness, from least crappy to most crappy.

1) Icon 2.5" w/ resi. Impressions - "oh good god"
2) Monroe LC shocks. Impressions - "meh, pretty darn smooth"
3) Tokico LC shocks. Impressions - "m-m-ehhh" (that's my teeth chattering from the harshness.
4) Rancho 9000 adjustable. Impressions - "wow, just so bad, wow"

Well glad you brought up ranchos. Cause I thought with 9 or whatever adjustment settings the ranchos might be a good option. What was so bad about them? How many of the settings did you try out?

I would love icons or kings, but I can't spend that kind of money on suspension. And if did have that money to spend, honestly I would be selling the 3rd gen for a 4.7 4th gen, or a late fj80, which of course would then need a supercharger

If you have any interest in a 80 series at all, do yourself a favor and import a turbo diesel one from Japan. It's still the best vehicle I've ever owned, and I miss it dearly every day. I only sold it to fund our move to Colorado. Do it do it. Rides like silk, stupid powers, decent mileage, bullet proof reliability, AND triple lockers and winch from factory.
 
I have Rear ToyTec 9602RC 3″ lift coils for sale if interested. slightly used. $100 plus shipping from Texas. Nothing wrong with them. I am getting heavier 861 coils better for towing and a little higher in the rear for better rake with my bumper.
 
My OEM rears (and Fronts) were shot. I found some OME906's (OME880 for the front) giving me a 2" lift and this leveled things out... What shocks did I go with? Rancho 9000XL adjustables. Its 1000% better, I don't off-road a whole lot, but I tow--- I set them to 9 (stiff) when towing and 3 when not. There isn't as much difference in adjustment as I might of thought, but they work fine. I've had them installed for 6 mos. and have no problems. I towed all Summer and found the 906's performed great... the shocks also went along way to providing good stability while towing. At $182 a pair, they're significantly cheaper than King or Icon---- yes, I know they're not as rugged as these high end shocks, but they're an alternative...
