Rear Tailgate Glass and Actuator Removal HELP

Hi folks. I've been searching the forum for a thread on a the glass and actuator removal but cannot find one specific to this. My window doesn't go up and down and the actuator/arms/channel are full of rust from what I can see looking through the access panel. I want to pull it out and clean/lube/inspect this thing. However, before I start rippin' and tearin' I was kind of hoping to find some helpful tips or a pictorial guide on removal. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

This should help. Having a 12V drill motor battery helps move the window up and down during disassemble:smash:.

I had this issue on my 1993 4runner. In my case, I had to replace a rusted out metal channel that is attached at the bottom of the glass. There is a rubber filler that sits inside the channel - a bit tough to slide back onto the glass. I used some electrical wire pulling lube on it- helped.
Agree that having an extra 12volt source helps- you will need to move the regulator arms so that you can slide the rollers into the channels when putting it all back in.

The motor was running but it was not turning the little external gear you see on the motor to move the window up/down. Most likely because the rails where so rusted it probably strained the motor gear causing it to break. So I sprayed the rails and any other parts I could with PB Blaster and let it soak a few days. Then, a few more days later I installed a new used motor I got off of a t4r member and the window moved. BARLEY, but it moved. Took the glass out this weekend, cleaned the rails up and greased every moving part with white grease. Baby works nice and smooth now. Quiet too. The only problem I have is it won't go up with the key, only down. The switch inside works up and down but no up action on the key.

So my search now begins on how to fix this.

My rear window key has never worked. Being a 1993 I'm just happy that the console switch still works!
