Rear tailgate will not open

Alright for almost a year now my rear tailgate will not open the moter works as you can hear it move I took the back panel off and broke the white plastic cover off to get to the mechanism as the only way to get it off is to open the tailgate but you can no matter what you do there are 2 levers that if you pull up on should open it manually but they will not budge but do move up if you press the button outside to open it as the moter works I also sprayed wd-40 in there to but nothing works I don't even know how the dealer could get it open as the only way to get it out is to have the latch open any ideas on what's wrong

One time I got a bungee end caught in the tailgate and it jammed it so tight I couldn't unlatch or open even though the latch motor was working. I had to cut and pry out the end piece before it worked again. You might check to see if there is anything jammed in the tailgate. The tailgate could be bent and could mimic the same symptoms.

I could check again but I'm pretty sure there's nothing caught in it I can't see the latch so I'm not sure there but I did pull out a black foam thing and a shoe lace which I think was Jimmy rigged t9 something

Going on what CO Fletch just posted, if there's indeed something jamming the hatch and putting pressure on the latch, have you tried pushing hard on the hatch to see if the possible pressure is relieved to allow the latch to operate?

Yeah I did with a tool trying to maybe move it but nothing I didn't try with a combination of both pushing and pulling with the levers
