Rear upper control arm Bushings ( short ones )

2002 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition. All stock with no lift or modifications.

I had a clunking sound coming from my rear axle area. Got under the Runner and found that the rear upper control arm bushing is toast. The Stealership (yes I spelled it that way on purpose) wants $255 per arm. They told me that the bushings are not removable. Is this true? I haven't pulled them out yet but they look replaceable to me. Has anyone done this before?

I found this Bushing kit for it on ebay. Only problem is its from Australia!

I also found these but I am not sure how to verify they are for my 4Runner. I'm going to go check these measurements now on the ones on the truck.

33 bucks a piece for the whole control arm. I bought the lowers and they seem to be great quality.

Well I went down and took it all apart and started looking around my scrounge drawer of parts. I had a new rubber vibration isolator for an aircraft APU left over from my previous career. Holy mowly this pressed EXACTLY into my RCA and accepted the old bushing. Took a quick drive and it was silent. For now...

Not sure how the rubber will hold up but its fixed for now. I'll keep an eye on it and if I have to end up replacing it with one of these arms, I will do that. They are cheap enough and easy to replace.

Thanks for the link to where you changed out you LCA on the front of your vehicle. Since I don't have to pay the Toyota price for the Rear UCA's I feel like I saved a bunch of money. So I ordered a ton of new bushings, bj's, tre's and a bottle jack to do the front.

I bought the Febest from amazon last fall. I have a write up on it somewhere.

I bought the upper arms complete and just bushings for the lowers. Then found out for a few dollars more I could have got complete lowers too.

I'll probably replace all of the rear bushings at some point in the future and I'll go the route you just mentioned with new arms and bushings for just a few more bucks.

I drove to work this morning and it feels like a new car. Totally different feel on the highway and when hitting the woops at a major intersection from all the stopping.

Feels like a new car. I love my Runner again.:car:

One of the links shows the 95 Runner being able to use the Rear Upper control arms.
Is it possible to use the uppers and lowers from a 1995 Runner on to a 2001?
