Rear View Camera and Cables

Anyone do this install thereself?
Where do you run the wires to go from the head unit to the hatch where the licence plate is?

Get a wireless one and you don't have to worry about that.

I'm using it with a Pioneer Head Unit. It does not support a Wireless Camera.

I mounted my rear camera on the back hatch just below the spoiler right above the rear window seal. I was able to run the video feed into the window seal, guiding it through the top of the hatch and came out of the wiring harness at the top of the inside of the hatch. then ran the video feed over into the other end of the wiring harness on the top part of the inner body of the back hatch.

this lead the video feed right into the area between the ceiling panel and the top of the body. I then ran the cable over into the driver side cargo panel, up through the base cargo panel over to the plastic covers right at the base of the rear passenger door. followed that wiring channel up to the front up through the dash and into the video input of the head unit.

I got power off the reverse light, and grounded to a bolt on the body.

I used a wire coat hanger to fish the wire through the hatch. It was kind of a pain in the a$$, but well worth the time.

Can anyone suggest a good Mounting Kit for a Double Din Pioneer. I've looked on a few sites where people said they orderd one and it did not fit properly.

I would like a suggestion from someone who has used one that worked perfectly.

I know mine fits great but I couldn't begin to tell you which one it is. I took the easy route and had an audio shop install my system. I know it's not a universal setup by any means, it was designed specifically for the 4runner limited trim setup if that helps. The only reason I know that is I had to wait for them to make a trip to a warehouse somewhere to pick it up.

I used the one that came with my deck from crutchfield: Metra 95-8202 In-dash Receiver Kit

I have a small gap on top, but I think that's needed with my pioneer because the faceplate tilts and is detachable. But it's not too bad, and doesn't look out of place.
