rear wheel cylinders

Is it hard to replace these?? I was having some crazy noise come from the rear wheels and they told me these needed to be replaced. Also the clutch slave cylinder was leaking and dripping down my clutch pedal.. I got a quote to replace all this for $303 and some change.. Thought i could save myself some cash and do it myself..

They are pretty easy, the hardest part is dealing with the corrosion and getting the line part. Aisan(factory oem) rear wheel cylinders are about $31 a side. If your going to do the clutch hydraulics, you might consider doing both clutch slave and master cylinder, both are pretty inexpensive($160 for both, Aisan).
It helps to have someone else with you to pressure bleed the system out. Make sure to have flare wrenches for the lines, without them, you might strip the fittings. Otherwise, both tasks are quite simple.

Before you jump into replacing the wheel cylinders pull the drums off and check them.
See if they are leaking, or frozen up.

Replacing them isn't difficult, biggest hassle is bleeding the system afterwards, but with a helper or power bleeder it's easier.

If it's dripping down your pedal, it's your master cylinder.

Yep, the master cylinder needed to be replaced too.. now my total is up to $450. i guess its better than a car payment each month..

My wife is like $225 here $350 there.. every few months we spend $XXX on that damn 4runner.. I am like yeah all that stuff from 1988 is starting to break.. I have had it 7 plus years and not done much repair wise. Yeah had a new engine installed but this thing has seen many a snowboard trip and many a beach day..
