Rear wheel rocker rust hole!

Just noticed a hole in the lower inner front of the rear wheel well. One side has it, one side does not. There is debris that was washed inside it. Recommended course of action? Gonna try and scrape out and dry the rocker interior, and at least temporarily seal the hole with some roof/window flashing sticky material.

Can't seem to add a pic although it is only 3.9 mb.

Can you wire brush the area, prime (something that will inhibit future rust, I use rustoleum) and then patch?
I would suggest using a rust converter (Eastwood Rust Converter is one) after a good cleaning, it will convert the rust and seal the area, then paint it with a good paint for further protection.

I had exactly the same thing on my '03. I cleaned it up, cut a thin sheet metal patch, oversize, shot some Fluid Film in the hole, slathered the patch with RTV and screwed it in place over the hole then covered with some 3M undercoating, still holding up after a couple of years.
