Rear window in liftgate

It looks like the cables in the rear lift gate have rusted out where they clamp on the window. Now the window stays down. Looking for a quick fix. I don’t need the window to work, just want it to stay up. Any ideas? I was thinking of trying to hold it up with wire. Maybe weld a bracket?

Isn’t too hard to replace the actuator for the window - shouldn’t be too expensive to find one from a scrapyard eBay etc

That said, for a quick fix, Wedge something between the weather stripping and the glass (cardboard, small pieces of wood, if you have something rubbers about an 1/8 inch thick)

I wouldn’t do this to mine but I had a buddy take the plastic trim off the back of the hatch and push the window up by hand then cut a price of wood to length and wedge it under the glass to hold it up. (Not to tight) he has had it this way for probably 2 years now. Lol.

I second getting the glass up and cutting a piece of wood under it to keep it there, I have done this on several vehicles of mine until I could fix the issue, works great temporarily.

When I got my truck the window was already wedged up using a piece of pine under it. I like the ability to open the window so replaced the rusted stuff with a used setup.
