Rear window won't go down...

I know this has been asked before, and yes, I did search... My rear window won't go down now, it is stuck all the way up. It doesn't make any noise (that I can hear)...It also doesn't move at all.

What I've tried:

• Locking/unlocking the window lock
• using the rear window key

Is there a fuse I can check? Is my motor bad? What's going on?

Solved it... using another thread on here...

My window wouldn't go down, so I turned on the rear defroster and the rear wiper, and it works!!

I'll leave this up to remind people as another solution to try... Seems to be pretty common

So what's next?
I rolled mine all the way down, now it won't go back up!
I tried all the tricks listed and got nothing.

It did this a few weeks ago and I tried the wiper thing and got it to go up but now I'm thinking I got trouble.

Would it be cheaper to by a whole new cargo door or get it fixed at the dealers?

If I had these problems, i would just remove the trim, and the metal cover, and all the wires and clean/lube/tighten every single part, paying particular attention to all wiring harness connections. Every terminal in every connector.

For myself, that solves the majority of the these types of problems.

I don't know anything about these electrical gremlins with turning on other switches etc...just a casual opinion.

I did tear into it and play with a few of the connections with no luck.
Is there a quick test I can do?
I can't seem to find anything on it in my Chilton manual.

If you are handy with a test light/probe you could have someone press the switch (or jumper wire the switch yourself if you don't have a helper) and test the connections. Check your lead harness, and check for 12V power. I don't have a wiring diagram, that would be quite helpful here. Check the links in the sticky for the FSM.

OK one more question, will the rear window defrost be de-activated when the window is down?
I can't get it to turn on, and I checked the fuses and the look OK.

Not sure about that, but it sounds to me like you have a corroded wiring harness
