Rear wiper ineffective?

Had the same problem with my rear wiper. When I bought the truck, it apparently never got used, so the pivots on the wiper blade frame were rusty.

Lubing these pivots helped, but did not give a 100% coverage, because the pivots still do not rotate as new, even after lubrication.

So I installed on of this http://www.amazon.com/SureWipe-Universal-Add-Pressure-Spring/dp/B00PB0YCDU to ensure a pressure strong enough to overcome the pivot resistance.

My window is now 100% clear when using the wiper.

It may need to be lubed at the pivot point that flexes in an out with the spring. If it isn't free, the spring doesn't pull it hard enough against the glass, and it will leave entire dirty spots where the blade isn't making contact. Also, I've found that the only real blade that works is the OEM. Anything else, your just replacing the insert which doesn't seem to work as well. Camelback Toyota is cheaper than anywhere, even Ebay.

This^^^^ and lubed often; I just use Krown rust proofing in the spray can once a week through the winter months.

Oh, j/k. I took it off because I didn't want to get lithium lube spray all over it when I was lubing the pivot points.

What about a new spring?

So I'm rinning into the same issue. I am sure the spring is worn out on the arm. Does anyone know a spring part number or equivalent besides the surewipes you can buy off amazon?

You can't just get the spring, you'll have to get the whole arm 8524135020.

I had to replace a few arms on my fleet. As soon as I get the replacement. I keep it lubed up.

Like others suggested use OEM blades. :]

Because I like to watch the world burn! When i rebuilt my 4Runner i cut the factory arm in half and welded a aftermarket arm to it. This allowed me to do two things. First, it allows me to run a standard 14" wiper blade that I can pick up at any parts store because it uses the standard connections instead of the Toyota only ones. Second, it allowed me to maximize the coverage from the bigger than stock wiper blade. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow to post when the sun is up.
