rear wiper not working

Low Washer Fluid Warning System
Found out today at the dealer that my Gen 5 Trail doesn't have a low washer fluid warning indicator. As you found out - the indicator is that when the rear washer quits squirting fluid then you are low
I was coming off Wolf Creek pass when I ran out of front fluid so had to draft other vehicles to get enough spray on my windshield to 'wash' it....you would think at this price range that a low fluid indicator lamp would be standard. It even states in the manual that it is supposed to show on one of the display windows.

Window was down. Well that sure was an easy fix! Thanks guys.

If the window lock is not on, and you have made sure the window was 100% up. Seems like a trip to dealer for a check.

Not into rear washer/wiper
I always trip it (accidentally) when using front wiper. I'm afraid of wiper moving when window is dirty then scratching glass. I was thinking of an override to disable motor but leave washer enabled. With washer still enabled you can hit rear wash button without wiper moving. Comes in useful when someones tailgating. Did this on my Xterra and also reversed washer nozzle so it squirted up away from rear window.. Direct hit for someone following close. :AK47: Haha

Yeah, after reading this thread I went out to my grave and checked both of those. Still nothing.

People tailgating would back off, worked like a charm every time. For the most part they wouldn't realize washer fluid was coming from reversed rear nozzle. Had a few rice rockets following close they got pissed gave me finger then quickly passed.
My rear wiper randomly stops working It's not the window lock button and the rear water still works. What I realized was this happens when I unplug the battery. So I removed the rear cover on the hatch and unplugged the wiper motor and it started working again...for a day. The rear window is all the way up. So the only way it will work is if I wait a few days and it randomly comes on or I have to unplug the rear wiper from under the cover. I replaced the wiper arm and checked the fuses, is there a wiring issue? It sucks in the winter when I can't see anything in the back. Any help would be appreciated
Advice from 2012 saves the day again in 2018. I pressed the up button on my '06 and the rear wiper still didn't work but after dropping the window fully down and back up again the rear wiper is working again.

So, what kind of travel does everyone get on their rear wipers, anyway?
I notice that mine seems wonky from use to use.
The first time I used it, it would complete a swipe without pause. Now, unless it is on a faster setting, it extends, pauses for some seconds, then returns.
Also,it seems that my particular wiper doesn't travel far enough to the driver side of the window- it goes about 2/3 to the driver side, that's it. I could have sworn that the first one I test drove went nearly to the top of the driver's side of the window during the wipe.
Anyone else know if this is normal? I'm worried that my baby is gimped right off the lot!:shrug:
