Rear wiper not working?

I only owned the truck for a few months and I guess I never tried to use the rear wiper until recently. It does not work. Neither does the rear washer. I checked the fuse in the panel near the steering wheel and it looked fine.

More evidence - the button for the rear defroster does not seem to work either. What is wrong with my rear?

I bet the back window isn't completely shut. Hold the button to shut it for a couple seconds then give the wiper a shot.

I had this problem recently, after getting it back from the shop.
I initially tried the window UP button. it didn't move, and was no help.
then I tried it DOWN a few inches, and then back up. everything worked after that.

This. It's happened to me before. I took it into the service department and felt stupid when they told me the fix.

does your rear window work? if not, you may have a bad rear door ecu or you may have to have it reset for your truck. I swapped out a rear cargo door and the window, wiper and spray didn't work (not sure about defroster, didn't try it). I had to swap over the ecu out of my old door and put it in my new door. Hopefully it is just a window issue. Good luck. Phil

I should have searched better ...

It was just a window issue. I had to lower the window a bit then put it back up. Now all works. This site is a great resource. I have changed headunits, made working keys and many other minor fixes thanks to you guys. And no one ever told me to search better!

When the battery gets disconnected, it resets the AUTO windows (driver side, sunroof, rear glass). You have to normalize the windows by holding down and waiting for them to go up and down for the AUTO feature to work. The 4Runner didn't know what position the rear window was at, so it didn't wash/wipe it. After normalizing, it knows where it is and works again. I had the same thing happen to me a while back and this was the theory I came up with. Seems to make sense.
