Rebuild 5VZ-FE's?

Anyone ran a thinner cometic head gasket to bump up the compression and get a few extra ponies. This used to be good for 10-15hp or so on a v8 and it’s free when changing the heads or a rebuild.

Not really as the head gaskets were recalled years ago due to them failing. It's not a major issue as most only see this problem, if at all, over 200K miles but it's something to consider. Our compression ratio is 9.6 so it's already decent.

I have seen some posts in the past if the v6 is close to red line when the timing belt snaps it can occasionally hit a valve as well. My guess is the exhaust valves would be out of spec for this to occur.
