Hi guys,
I pulled the heads on my 4runner last week and sent them to a machine shop. They resurfaced the heads and installed new valves seals, did a valve job and set the valve lash. I removed the cams today and decided to take a flashlight and shine into the intake/exhaust ports. I can see some light on the combustion sides of the intake valves. The light is able to shine around most of the circumference. Not a huge gap that can be seen without the light.. Again, this is with the cams removed.
Is this normal or did the machine shop make a mistake? I was hoping that the valves would seat properly once broken in, but don't want to install the heads without some advice.
