Receiver Hitch suggestions needed

I have one that definitely saved my other car from some dings when I had to street park. The thing I don't like about it is that it needs some sort of anti rattle... I tried to make something but the design needs to allow for movement in the event of collision... Have you worked around this? Otherwise it sat with considerable play in my other hitch and make a terrible racket to the point that it now sits in my shed...

Interesting... I think it's just a bad match for my receiver. Like it's tight at the insert but loose at edge toward the front of car...

One day I'll dig it out and try the tape. It's so annoying because it's a heavy piece so you need something substantial to stop it from wobbling. There was about a full 1/2 inch discrepancy end to end. I tried wedging coins in there (gap too small) to aluminum foil (would fall out)... I even tried different pin setups but no avail cause it needs to 'move' fore and aft.

I used this hitch stabilizer on my Smittybuilt Beaver Step, works great. Tightens everything up and doesn't rattle.

You could try a ranger band.

Take bicycle inner tube, cut to size, place over

I used this hitch stabilizer on my Smittybuilt Beaver Step, works great. Tightens everything up and doesn't rattle.

This is totally off the top of my head (it's snowing and the bumper thing is in my shed) but it has 2 rubber bumper things that prohibit that from working only for placement issues. This is for the superbumper not the Smittybuilt. Also i think I ran into logistical issues cause the thing is supposed to absorb impact by moving front to back so if just straight up clamp it down it would turn it into essentially what the smittybuilt of similar is which is just a step.... I think the superbumper is a good idea in theory but less in execution

Another good idea! I just have to crawl under there cause I think the issue is it's a bit loose at the hitch receiver opening (but annoyingly not loose enough to just wedge something there) and a lot loose at the rear of the hitch receiver (towards the front of vehicle). If that makes sense? I think i probably have to put it in and wedge from under the car. The far side.

I once used my stick welder and reached in and dabbed a weld at the back edge.....it tightened up the tail end where it had wobbled out some.

Rattle? My superbumper magnum xl has no issues with rattle what so ever. I used all the supplied spacers to make sure i had a tight fit. I'm using 4 of the inner tube spacers and 3 outer spacers. Per instructions, you may need help pushing the bumper in some to create the tight fit to prevent the rattle you speak of.

so you never seen snow and rock salt all over your ride every Fin day in winter ? up here cover keeps that hole from rusting ..

might help where you live to keep the texas mud out..

That step look great and seems really functional! I wish I saw that before putting a hitch ball on. I don't tow anything(yet), but put it on only because people at work are inconsiderate and would back into it in the parking lot while im not around(like they did to my G35).

I still may switch to the step as it is functional, looks great, and will still put a hole in some idiots bumper.

No, it's not snowy or salty here LOL, but mud is not an issue either as I'm not muddling like a high school bro.

Seriously though, the back end of the hitch is open. Doesn't salt get in that way and then the cover traps it in there making the rust worse?

on my GM truck I have this rust issue in the hole...the trailer piece now wobbles so I installed a piece of S/Steel 16 GA inside to make it tight ... makes annoying pop sound..18 yrs of use and rust..

so on the 2016 toyota T4R I found a cap in walmart .. cost was about $3.. real cheap does the job and not something a person would be attracted to steal..soft plastic / rubber material fits tight..

no rust yet ..
