Recommend Some Jack Stands

My sliders are coming in soon and I am about to put my spider trax on, anyone find some reasonably priced jack stands that will get the truck up enough? Plan to get loaner torque wrench from o'rielly or auto zone for the studs.

I've had the same jack stands I got at harbor freight for going on 10 years and many thousands of hours of use. Literally months at a time on some projects. No complaints. People may say quality sucks because harbor freight ... But in this instance I just don't think that's the case.

HF is fine.

OP: You can buy 2 to 3 ton floor jack stands. Brand does not matter. I bought two Torin 2 ton jack stands for $10 in case my floor stand fails.

I've got Harbor Freight stands as well as these AC Delco stands from O'Reilly.. I like the AC Delco stands more.. they just feel solid with a more positive engagement.

Harbor Freight won't let you use coupon on stands (says so in fine print) and their stands are crap anyways. Get these from Northern:

I 2nd that! And, if after 10 years they are a little scratched harbor freight will exchange them for a new set.

I've got the HF jack stands also. No problems whatsoever in over 10 years. I mean hey, they're jack stands, not a lot of moving parts that can fail. Many brake jobs and work on both the FJ62 and Tacoma still work like a champ.

Get the bigger ones. I have one set of small and four large, the small didn't work after lift.

Harbor Freight 6 ton jack stands are relatively cheap, and I used their coupon on two separate transactions to get a discount. Nice and tall. I have 4 from HF, as well as some random shorter ones for other vehicles.

Craftsman 4-ton "professional" jack stands (the black and yellow ones)! I use them on my Highlander and they are very sturdy and very minimal wobble. They are occasionally on sale at Sears for $25/pair.

If you need more height you can put them on cinder blocks or I got a 4x4x8 and cut it into 1 foot pieces and stack them in opposite directions to get the height you need and put the stand on top.

Don't ever support vehicle with jack stands on top of anything other than pavement unless you have a death wish.

If you need more height you can put them on cinder blocks or I got a 4x4x8 and cut it into 1 foot pieces and stack them in opposite directions to get the height you need and put the stand on top.

I would not use the cinder block method , they can collapse. I use solid wood blocking if I need more lift. using a good sized 2X12 on the floor and put jack on that. I also use some oak blocks of a large size to hold vehicle in place. the oak will never fail , steel maybe.

Exactly, I bought the 3 ton J/S, and 3 ton low profile floor jack from H/F years ago, my Corvette sat on those stands for 8 months while I patiently rebuilt the whole drive train and suspension. Never had a problem with either of these purchases.

Originally I bought Torin Big Red 2 ton jack stands and I am sure they are safe and fine for my T4R. However for many manufactures the 2 ton rating is when the jacks are used in pair. Thus I replaced my 2 ton jack stands with 5 ton rated aluminum JEGS (JEGS Performance Products 80067: Aluminum Jack Stands 5-Ton | JEGS).

Be exceedingly careful putting a jack or jack stand on wood. Wood is soft. If the vehicle gets off balance the wood could give enough to let the jack stand roll. Cribbing under a bottle jack is slightly safer, as the vehicle generally has three tires on the ground and is mostly stable, but if you're putting two or more tires in the air, best to use the right height jack stand in the first place.

And don't EVER use a cinder block. Not ever. Those things can explode under the weight of a vehicle without any warning signs, and if you're under something hard when it happens you'll be dead, or wish you were. I'd go under a truck held up by a hi lift before I'd go under a truck on cinder blocks, and I won't ever go under a truck held up by a hi lift.
