I would avoid lkq if that is what they charge. 300-600 used for the trans a340f and get the same year and match 4x4 or 2wd. Ask a local yard, avoid rebuilts, used oem. And only oem parts if you want to keep your truck on the road.If you know someone a LKQ you ight find a used one for around 1000.00 but you will get a part amd labor warranty. The warranty might run you an extra 300 maybe. A full good rebuild is around 3-4 grand. I just went down this road in 01. Good luck

I'd rather run a used A340F than a rebuilt. They'll run about $300 on your local Craigslist, and can be swapped in/out in about 1-2 days, depending on your skill level.
The big problem with this idea is IF you can find one. I have been watching CL for Texas and am yet to find an 2001 automatic 4x4 transmission come up. At least when they do come up they are usually gone within a day.
