Thanks for the post idea jamion. As a new 4Runner owner myself, I would like to hear of others service center experience/recommendations.

Yeah, as a new 4Runner owner, this is the first vehicle in eons that I've realized I want to keep for a long time, so I want to do things the right way to extend its lifespan. When I see gen 3 4runners around still working and looking great, I realized this beast has some real potential to last a looooong time and I can do so much with it. I'm so happy (and relieved) I didn't end up buying the Highlander, Durango or Jeep GC, which were the other contenders. I also flirted with a Subaru, but this will eat that for breakfast. My decision just feels better with each week that passes since I bought it, especially as I learn the 4runner's unique potential that I never realized I wanted before.
And I've got a son who will likely be bugging me about taking it off my hands in 6-7-8 years, so there's that option too.
I actually started thinking about this service dept. issue when I read another thread here in this forum about something as simple as an oil change being messed up by dealers who don't bother to put all the skid plate bolts back in place. Made me realize I needed to find a good place I can trust, since I don't have time to do it myself.
Anyway, best of luck in your search for a good home base service dept!

ah yes the complimentary wash. back in 2009, my Buick Enclave was probably about a month old, took it in for something at the selling dealer, they washed it, and the kid must have used a brush that had swept the ground with, crazy swirls on the side. Body shop buffed it, etc. but for the 7 years that I owned it, in the sunlight the swirls were damned annoying.
Thanks for the reminder when I take my 4Runner in for it's first oil change to ask them not to wash it...

Had the day off so I'm trying Kooms Westminster for my 20k service.
Shouldn't be eventful other than they have 97 other service appointments today (the most ever they said).
I added a simple request to program the key fob to roll all windows down when holding the unlock button.
We'll see if that gets done

They are going to program to the remote at a cost of $60. Most have done it for free in the past but I don't expect it to be free. $60 seems high though but oh well.
I should probably look into getting the tool and software to do it myself.

I had mine done for free, but it was at the same dealer that I purchased it through.
Doing it yourself would require the TechStream software and a Windows XP laptop with the correct dongle-cable to plug into the OBDII port. Way more than $60.00 by the time you get all that sorted out.
I don't have all that myself so I am at the mercy of the dealer for any, future adjustments myself.

I get mine done worked on at Koons in Annapolis. They programed the keyfob for the windows for free. took all of 5 minutes. But they did want to verify in the owners manual first.
They work they do is good, but sometimes you have to almost be an ass to get them to do the work.
I had to argue with the service manager, and made him and the master tech to ride with me to prove they didnt balance the tires when the put the TRD rims on. But that is the only major issue I had. They had all my TRD parts in and installed quickly. Had tires rotated no appointment. They aren't perfect but they do do good work.
