I'm thinking of pulling out the stock stereo in my 4runner and replacing it with something that has a GPS and Stereo. The Eclipse AVN50D looks like exactly what I'm looking for because it fits right in without any modification. I'm just wonder what some of you use these days. Thanks again! Love this forum!

I have the eclipse AVN series (dont remember which one). I love it.
My only gripe with it is that I don't particulary like the ipod and mp3 on screen navigation menu's. They get the job done but they piss me off sometimes.
Overall very happy with it though. Recently I've contemplated adding the back up camera but eclipse apparently discontinued the model I need-another gripe I have.

I have an iPhone and pioneer made this AppRadio to use some of the phones apps such as Pandora radio Inrix traffic and GPS drive. You can also use ipod touch. It has bluetooth, radio, and ipod music. i love the radio and recomend it if you ahve an ipod or iphone!

Regardless if you don't use CD's, the AppRadio might be a little overkill for you with a Blackberry. It's big feature is using a bunch of compatible apps on your iPhone/Android and controlling them right on the touchscreen, plus having access to your files/photos/contacts.
What's your price-range?
Plug your car info ('96 Toyo 4Runner) into Crutchfield.com, and look through their double-DIN GPS in-dash units. There's a bunch of nice ones under $600. I was looking at Clarion, Kenwood, Alpine, etc. for my rig. They all pretty much have the useful stuff (incl. a CD player so you can use those huge MP3 CD's you burn at home. But make sure:
GPS, Bluetooth, USB, Aux, iPhone, etc.
When you decide on a few models, check out Amazon, eBay, etc. for cheaper deals than Crutchfield. I was told to also try SonicEletronix.com and AudioSavings.com, but haven't used those before.

correct everything i listen to is either on pandora or from my phone plugged in in the glovebox.
but yeah look some up on amazon, theres a pretty good selection on there. Good luck!

Pioneer is releasing AppRadio II sometime this spring, which is supposed to have new Android support plus lots of fixes from bugs in the first version. $500 I believe. I'm waiting on that one.
They do now (or at least will next week or so). I think they are listening.

I have an AVN6620 and it's great. Pro's are that it's a direct plug and play, so no cutting or 3rd party harnesses required, bluetooth sounds great, all Nav functions work great and it's nice to have a separate slot for a DVD. Con's are that the maps are a bit dated (graphics), you have to buy extra adapters to hook up an ipod, bluetooth and satellite radio and the screen can be hard to see in direct sun.

How do you like the navigation menus for the MP3 and Ipod screens?
(also, any chance you have figured out the best way to burn the MP3's and keep all the navigation working correctly- grouped by artist, album, etc.)

It's not all the time, just when there's super direct sun. I'd say 99% of the time I have zero issues seeing it.
The nav buttons I find pretty straight forward and basic. It's nice having the double-din size to have more info to see at a time. I came from a JVC-KDX77 and that thing was loaded with features. This was a step down for sure in that regard, but I haven't missed any of that extra stuff (being able to load photos to the wallpaper amongst other features). I just wanted a simple unit where I could have Nav, DVD, bluetooth and iPod. Nav was the biggest. I found I was using my phone too much and thought that it wasn't going to end well.
And I've never burned an MP3 cd/dvd. I just have my iPod in the glovebox at all times.

Man you really got me itching to buy an Eclipse AVN unit. But paying over then $500 is really going to hurt.
I paid $200 for my wifes AVN 50D. I think I paid $350 or so for my AVN 5435...
The only difference I can find in the 2 units is that the AVN 50D doesn't have the red blinking security light.
I love them both. However, sometimes when I am playing an MP3 disc and the navigation at the same time, the map disc has trouble being read... Not sure why. Happens on both of them.
