Heh you're not slowing down much
Are you going to make the next San Diego 4runner meet at fiesta island? Would love to see your rig in person.
I should be there. I'm really looking forward to seeing some rigs myself.
I still need roof rack sorted out. Was planning on the WMW, but engine swap tied up a lot of cash. Full refund from the rebuild should help, of course there's always a SC... I'm a sick man.
We do plan to go to more events (including baja), now that we have appropriate toys.

I really like the WMW racks, but the shipping to the west coast is a killer. Have you seen [MENTION=68079]drabbits[/MENTION] racks? They are pretty close and made in socal.
Also if you don't mind me asking, where did you get your new engine from?

Thanks! I'm really stoked to have it back in the dirt. It sucked being down so long...and just after I was "finished" with the mods.
Haven't seen those racks. I will check it out. The rack I have works, but it's just kinda meh... Truck deserves better IMO.
The JDM engine came from JDM Engine Pro in La Habra.

I made this thing too heavy, and I think I want to step up to 285s, so today I ordered parts for 4.88 re-gear. Should be done within in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to it.
Pretty sure there is a SC in the future, but gonna try to resist until after this season is over. Tires will likely be next.

Thanks for the comments and encouragement, guys. We begin the re-gear on Monday. ...and then I'll start thinking about 33" tires.
Also need to be less lazy, and install the VHF race radio. Ran with the hand-held at Corral Canyon, but it only works when the trucks are pretty close together. The RZR already has the mobile installed. The two trucks (myself included) could hear RZR fine on the hand-helds, but he couldn't receive us when we got spread out. So, that'll get handled this week also.
...and, I bought a CB for good measure. That'll likely get installed same time as the VHF.
Tires? Lock the front? Ditch lights? Better box in the rear? Hoops and dual shocks up front? Gas tank skid? Fix the paint? Not sure what is next on the list. Suggestions? Not doing SC until after this season, but it is in the plan...

Some new stuff
Having the shop install some 4.88 ring and pinion goodness, so I can haul around all the metal I've added to my rig...and maybe I'll get "real" tires someday. I take a lot of crap for having tires smaller than 33". The dumb basket on the roof causes me some grief too.
Also gonna install front swaybar discos this week. I believe they will be useful. Probably gonna move the front links to the back for some added length.
Installing CB antenna and VHF setup (don't worry - different antenna) tomorrow also (with luck this will all be done by tomorrow night, so I can drive to AZ to see some family.)

Almost lost my spare...
Forgot to mention. Last week we ran Corral Canyon. Had a great time, but I almost lost the spare from the swingout mount. Vibrated two of the studs completely off. Tire was hanging on by a single stud.
Couple of lessons learned:
1) Blue Loctite and a little torque would have prevented this from happening.
2) Check your rig before you jump back on the road after hitting the trails. If I hadn't checked, the tire could have come off on the freeway, and I couldn't live with that.
Luckily, I did look over the truck before heading out. Didn't have spare studs, so I double strapped the wheel with ratchet straps, and torqued the remaining stud. Replaced studs, and used loctite this time, so it shouldn't happen again.

Corral Canyon video - pinos and corral canyon road
My buddy put together some video of the Corral Canyon run. I know I can't keep up with those guys (pretty much only got shots of me on the pavement - LOL), but they can't go everywhere I can go...at least that's what I tell myself.

At SOME point, I'm going to upgrade to 33s, 4.88 gears and at least a rear locker all at once. Buuuuut, probably not for some time
Am interested in what the mileage is with that combo.

Swaybar disconnects
I installed the swaybar discos. Looks like I won't need them. Drove around with them disconnected, and I liked it so much, I think I'll just remove them altogether.
Unreal how much my suspension has been suffering with the swaybar connected. You'd think I'd understand this, since I have a long-travel truck also...
Anyway, this truck is getting dialed in. Can't wait for desert season to begin.

You and me both. Yesterday was miserable down here. August in the desert is way to humid.
