Regrets... We all have them!

So the other day I was really racking my brain to decide what to use my tax return on. Of course I have bills to pay and blah blah but I really enjoy adding to my truck. I was 2 seconds away from pulling the trigger on the Gobi ladder and closed the page instead with the thought... Do I really need it? I can put the money to the much desired Shrockworks bumper. Which sparked the idea for this thread. What have you done/ or almost done to your 3rd gen that you regret doing? I know we all have them and it might be helpful to someone like myself who is on the fence about spending the $$$ or doing the modification.
:happens:
Let's hear it!

I needed LHD headlights to get my RHD truck safetied and insured, so I thought I was clever and ordered OEM e-code headlights from a Toyota dealer in the UK as I heard the light output was superior to the North American ones, should have got the '99+ ones...I regret that.

I also bought a new deck for the truck, after LOTS of careful research on options, bang for the buck, etc. Pioneer MVH-P8200BT, went to install it and found the deck was wider than the opening in the dash, basically the width of a single DIN deck with the clip on trim plate installed, except you couldn't remove the trim plate. It would only work on dashes where the deck slides into the dash, not where the dash slides over the deck like our trucks. I ended up having to sell it at a small loss, but it was a pissoff.

Tire size?

Just order a 3" coil lift for my 1996 4runner Limited. What size tire to order? 33 x 12.5 or 35's? Can anyone help me with my decision?

Thanks,
Robert

There is a whole writeup on this subject on the main page of 3rd gens with a huge wealth of information. Please refer there

getting nerf bars, and a brush guard I so wish i would have got some sliders and other real armor.

also a while ago, i needed new suspension, the Toyota Dealership quoted me $600 for a full 3.5" suspension lift. I turned it down :ybrick: that offer no longer exist

WTF???? Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda huh? :ybrick:

haha yeah pretty much. I'm sure there was a reason i didn't pull the trigger, but now that im not making money and doing this school stuff i kind of wonder why i didn't do it

My cb antenna mount. Thats the only thing.

Oh and originally getting the OME lift. Almost done swapping that out though.

i have more regrets like gottabetrd. i've come across some AMAZING deals. i found a guy two christmas' ago who was selling a budbuilt skid for 175. just didn't have the cash at the time. i never seem to have enough to spare when i do find those deals.

Getting the OME 906 springs for the rear instead of the 890 or 891 with my Toytec Ultimate Lift. I also regret rushing into purchasing my 4Runner, because I overpaid for it, and could have done better. Oh well.

Deckplate and ISR Mod

It was cool at first, now the noise is just annoying. I put the deckplate back in, and I'll be putting the Intake silencer back in when I find time.

Buying a 2nd gen first and not doing my research properly. For the 3rd gen I regret buying my Cooper STT's as they were horrible and I ended up losing $60 through it all. Doing the deckplate mod as well. I've had the cover on the whole time and recently took it off to give it another try. It really bugs me, oh well.

Selling my sport hood. It was the right thing to do, but still sucks not having an OEM sport hood waiting for me. Not picking up front and rear plate bumpers with a tire carrier for $500 for both. I just didn't have the money, but it was a steal.

Well, the particular OME parts I got. I got HD stuff all around, dont know why. Wish I would have gone with the ultimate instead. Im getting the toytec coilovers this summer.

Oh ok, I was thinking did I make a bad decision putting on the OME last summer? haha I really wish I had put a bigger lift then the 3" I got out of my OME. Don't get me wrong I love the higher stance but when I see other people's rigs on this site it makes me wish I went taller. I guess it has its trade offs though.

Everyone that I have talked to that has gone with the HD OME60027 rear shocks has hated the ride. If you go OME get the 60028's even if you carry a lot of weight.
