Relocs questions for 4th gen lift kits.

Ok by reading those NE warning threads one thing I got from the semi heated conversation was a damn good education on lift kits for a noob like me. So I guess you can always learn something, even from a bad situation =)

At this point I am interested in a 3 inch lift kit from revtek, (I forgot who posted the pic of their revtek lifted runner but the runner looks really good), but as pointed out it seems like only NE makes relocs for the 4th gen XREAS runners.

Anyways my 3 questions are these:
1.) Do you really need the relocs for the lift?
2.) Will NE relocs work on revtek kit?
3.) If I dont use the relocs will it diminish the travel in the rear shocks and wear the life down or something when I take it off roading or just daily driving in general?

so back to the thread: (atleast i make the attempt).

NE's reloc is a real nice idea but poorly designed. That said, you don't need it.... revtek don't sell em with their kit nor does daystar. that says enough.

Also, if you want to lift more than 3" up front w/ the stock shock, you're just asking for it...
 
Ok my answers to your questions:

1) No you dont need it, your suspension travel will still be good without it. I run it without and so have a number of other people
2) It should other guys run it with Daystar which has lesss lift, but see YT thread, do it at your own risk of damage to the XREAS, but I dunno

Hey 4runnerlaker, I'm guessing you're in the Los Angeles area. If you are, we should all get together and just talk about this in person. That way we can all talk about alot of cool topics.

I agree with this idea. I need a lift in the next month or so.

Well, whenever you guys figure out the solution let the rest of us know!:) I was just about to buy my lift kit from NE when all this controversy started and now of course I have my share or concerns. I know I could go with Daystar or Revtec, and I may, but I also have the concern about over stressing the shocks. Guess I'll just have to mull this one over for a while longer.
 
I ran the Revtek kit for a long time before the NE kit .... I have XREAS and was not running the re-locs. The kit and my truck did absolutely fine with that setup, even in off-roading situations where the shocks got a pretty good workout. :)

I also have the RevTek kit and have see no ill effects. I go off road a lot. Every since I installed the lift, I get underneath after every trip and inspect the suspension, front to back. I've also re-torqued twice. No issues or changes in flex, ride quality, or ride height over the last year.

I wanted the full 3" lift because I only wanted to do it once. Drawback to the Revtek kit is the rear shocks you can't use if you have XREAS. Drawback to the Daystar is it's not a 3" kit. I did not mind paying for the unusable shocks to get the extra height. When I did mine, the only kits out were Revtek and Daystar.

How many miles have you run with out re-locs? No problem off-road is great news. But what about long term, on the road?

This is my first truck. But lowering a car, even a mild 1.7-2" drop using springs was bad on stock shocks. The stockers would be done after 40-50k. They simply were not designed to be used at a lower ride height.



It there any quality or design differences between the Revtek and Daystar kits?

I know the Revtek has new rear shocks, and is 3".
 
I've been thinking about a lift too. Will the dealer intall it. If yes, how much for installation, and are there any warranty issues I should be concerned about?
