Remote operated hatch popper?

Has anyone managed to install some form of popper for the rear hatch on the 4runner?

I have a remote start system that was installed after the fact by the dealer so I have an extra remote that has a button for popping the hatch. However since the 4runner doesnt already have this feature I was wondering if it was feasible to add on.

I'm not looking to add a full power open and close system, just something that might be able to pop open the hatch with the remote I already have.

I'm open to ideas and feedback.

When I had my FJCTT, there was something some of us used to pop the rear window.
See the link: Saker's 2013 TT/SE Build ~ Rear Window Remote Control
It was an easy install and I feel confident that this could be figured out to pop the read hatch door mechanism by someone like rigtec or Antman.

This might turn into a "have to" mod, if it's possible!

Oh, the module to upgrade this is only 13.50

Thats a good start. I think a stronger set of lift struts may also be needed to get it to really pop open enough to be appreciable.

I think youre right about antman figuring this out from what I've seen so far.

It would be easy- I already isolated the correct wires in my thread when I mounted the inside hatch release button.

You would probably need some super heavy duty struts to get it open without help.

Mine always requires a good tug and won't hardly open in the winter. I do have the GOBI ladder and H/D struts...

Now that I think about it, if you had struts that strong, you may need extra help to close it once opened.
May only be an electronic opening strut option.... :(

Thats what i was thinking after i ran to my wife's work to grab something out of it. It does take a bit of effort to get open. I cant say how it compares to the weight of a rav4's hatch, but I know the guy who installed the remote start for me said there's a company that makes one for the rav4 and he thought it ought to be able to work for the 4runner.
