Remote/Primitive Camping in Kings Canyon National Park?

Planning on visiting King's Canyon National Park. Any recommendations for some remote/primitive camping spots?

Don't think there is anything in the park as far as remote/primitive camping with your rig. I stayed near Hume as there are a ton of forest routes around there and along 10 Mile Road (between Sequoia and Kings Canyon NP).

I was there a few months ago, but I don't think there's going to be anything inside the park.

You can camp off any forest road off Ten Mile Road between Generals Highway and Hume Lake.

Let me see if I can find the forest road I camped off of. Had a pretty nice view and was above a lot of the trees. If you search @_carlomagne on instagram, I did post a picture while driving to the spot just to show how high I was.

thanks, i've seen your photos on instagram right after i posted for help haha. so if you see an open road off ten mile, it is okay to camp off those roads?

Yup! Just get a fire permit online if you plan to cook or start a camp fire. I doubt they'll check but good to have just in case.

curious, what did you use for a campfire? rocks? or did you have a portable metal container?

Rocks. There's plenty around there. Watch out for scorpions underneath (I came across a few big ones hiding under the rocks).

heading up there in a couple weeks. we have a confirmed secret spot in the dorst creek area, but may head up to ten mile road for a night too. thanks for the info! doing all my research now.
