Hey all!
I'm in the final planning phases of prepping to install a remote start into my 2005 V8 Limited. The unit I'm installing is an Encore E9. One of the things that I know I need to do is have the remote start pulse the driver's door on shutdown to enable the truck's headlight control feature to shut off the headlights after 30 seconds. I normally leave my headlight stalk set to "Auto", but I don't want this to affect the headlights when I'm remote starting. I'm planning on using a relay triggered by the "Ground while running" wire from the brain to open the ground path for the headlight stalk. I will also hookup the parking wire signal (-) to the green wire coming off the headlight stalk. I believe this should trick the ECU into believing that the switch is always in parking light, and my headlights should not come on. I will also use the "Factory Alarm Rearm (-)" to send a pulse on shutdown to the ECU for the Driver Door courtesy switch (Red-Black) to make the truck think that I got out, which should start the 30 second auto-off counter.
I was thinking of tying the blue loop from the fog light switch to my relay controlled ground output as well. This will accomplish the fog control that others have (independent of headlights hi/lo), while also preventing the fogs from coming on during a remote start.
Have I missed anything?
Thanks,
Jon
Relay connects are:
30 - Ground
85 - 12V switched by RS
86 - RS Ground while running (-)
87 - No connection
87a - Headlight Black/white (& possibly blue fog light loop)
