Remote Start Installed-Diff Lock light

I had a remote start put in a couple weeks ago-
had some pretty good snow around here so I was playing with 4x4 and my rear diff lock light wont stop flashing.
I have done the blue/red wire done so I can use diff lock in 2wd ect ect

Playing with it in the snow yesterday I have a solid two wheel spin so the diff lock is working and there is a definite click/clunk when I turn it on and off. It worked just fine a few weeks back before the install of the remote start...

I pulled the kick panel and they had attached a ground to my Blue/red wire mod-(which is basically a ground) I removed there ground and ran a separate ground for theirs ...I thought this might be the fix but its still flashing-

They have some wires spliced under there in that area and im assuming one of them is not letting my light stay on. Anyone have an idea??

Take it back to them and make them figure it out.

I took it back to them and they spent two hours looking at it and couldn't figure it out. Im going to pull the switch at the axle and clean it, maybe it just happened to be coincidence that it happened around the same time as the install...
I also noticed my dimmer switch is not working either.. But that shouldn't have anything to do with the remote start I wouldn't think-

Anyone have a link to some wiring diagrams?? Looking for dimmer switch and diff lock info-?

Im thinking my head unit (installed mid December) might be part of the culprit... Got it done at a local audio shop, It was a X-mas present from the girlfriend and she paid install in advance so i just took it in.
Are the dimmer switch and diff lock tied into the same circuit or wiring harness anyone know off the top of there head?

If its a matter of switching a wire or two id rather Just do it myself rather than make an appointment and drive into town-

Diff is definitely engaging.. I jack up the rear. Can hear the actuator click in and both wheels lock. Google searching "wiring diagram for 2000 4runner diff lock" bring up millions of pages of nothing but people wanting to add it. Any help?

Make sure they plugged in the dimmer switch. The probably left it unplugged when they removed the trim during the remote start install.

I pulled the lower part of the dash- I was able to get my hand on it and a good view from the other side. its definitely plugged in. Its in a part of the dash that I don't think they would have needed to disassemble to get to there wiring because most of what I can see the wiring is all in the kick panel and directly under the steering column. There's got to be some wire they tapped into that's messing with the dimmer switch and the diff lock button. They are right next to each other. Between the remote start and the cd/head unit something is off. Still cant seem to find a decent wiring diagram. I did note that the two wires coming out of the diff lock switch are Yellow with black stripe and green with black stripe. Cant see the colors of the dimmer switch.
Doing some reading someone posted somewhere that if the Orange Dimmer wire in the head unit it can mess with or wreck the dimmer switch... only found one post on that- but they also had issues with tail lights not working... mine are fine...

Found a dimmer rheostat on eBay for 15.00 shipped. Im going to disconnect the orange illumination wire from the head unit and install the new dimmer rheostat and see if I get lucky... Still wondering if the diff lock and rheostat have anything in common when it comes to the wiring...

I'm pretty sure they have something in common. I came across a thread a couple months ago when I was considering getting a remote. After reading that thread, I decided to not get a remote start. Seems that a lot of people have had electrically issues after the install was done, some ended up removing it, and some figured out how to fix it. I tried finding it again, but no luck. I can tell you that is they left something unplugged on the dash, you'll have no lights come on. Try unplugging the radio wire harness from the factory wire harness and see what happens. If you unplug it and all is well, you've got an issue with the wiring for head unit.

Well I pulled the stereo, cut the orange illumination wire and taped it off.
I also installed a new (used) dimmer switch.
No luck- Ive checked every fuse- All are good.
I disconnected the stereo as well. Nothing changed...

I lied. When I disconnected the radio I only checked my locker switch. I took it apart again and the dimmer worked! So I grabbed the Factory harness that the aftermarket stereo plugs into. And found the White wire with a green stripe. Followed it into the stereos wiring which on that side was orange and white. Cut that wire, taped it off and I am back in business. For anyone else that comes across this I hope this helps. Don't even connect the factory White and green illumination wire!

Now I still have to figure out why my locker light is blinking...
