Removed the Running Boards

Finally got a chance to remove the running boards!

P.S. Thanks for the advice. The WD40 worked like a charm!

No, doesn't look like it's sagging. Just looks a little low which I think the 2WD 4Runners are.

What are your plans for her?

This will have to remain my daily driver so I won't be going crazy with the offroad mods. I plan on doing a few things within the next month though such as:

- New shocks
- Blacking out the emblems
- Touching up any black on the exterior (It has faded quite a bit)
- Fixing the fog lights (they seem to have a short)
- Adding a luggage rack
- Changing the timing belt (tomorrow)
- A full tuneup

I also want to look into doing the deckplate mod.

I'll definitely do more but that's just what I've thought of getting at for now.

Care to suggest some things? Keeping in mind this won't be a big offroader..just occasional mudding and small things.

Good plan so far. You doing the timing belt yourself? Do the water ump while you're doingbthe timing belt, also do the tensioner, cam and crank seals and use a new crank bolt for added piece of mind.

Only other thing I would suggest is to do springs when you replace the shocks. (maybe some '99 Talls for a mild lift. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to do the Lower Ball Joints, Outer Tie Rod Ends, Steering Rack and Sway Bar bushings while you're at it either.

You keeping those wheels or going with something else?

I'm gonna have the timing belt done by a friend of mine who owns an auto shop. Good ideas! I'll definitely look into it. I'm gonna see how money is looking after the timing, shocks, springs, and tuneup. I'm not really in love with them..they're cool but I think I'll go with something else eventually.

I've always loved black 4runners. That thing is a beauty! How hard is it to keep her clean?

Thanks Matt, Its not too bad except for when its raining, and in the spring w/ the pollen. Other than that a good coat of wax every few weeks keeps her lookin good

That's true. I bet that thing is a pain in the spring with that pollen! Who cares, black 4runners look BAD when cleaned up.

Yeah, with your rig it actually looks great with the running boards to me. Mine needed them off because of the tire size and no lift. What size lift have you got on that thing?
