Removed Two Lower Control Arms Bolts, Can't Get Back Together

I'm installing Bilstein 6112's today. My truck has KDSS and I followed a video and ended up removing the two lower ball joint bolts and pivoting the LCA down to get the shock in. I didn't use a jack to hold the LCA up. Now that I have the strut in place and bolted in, I'm trying to jack up the LCA to get the lower ball joint bolts back in and having a hell of a time. Then I'm reading a thread on here now that makes a comment about the danger of doing what I just did, maybe even ruining the CV?? What? Can anyone help me out here?

When you jack up the LCA, how close does it come before it pushes the ride up?

Distance between the BJ holder and steering knuckle.

Did you place a jack stand at the rear of the opposite side frame rail? This should help keep the side you are working on from lifting so high.

Yeah the KDSS is disconnected but when I jack up the LCA the shock barely compresses and the truck is just lifting off the jack stand on that side.

You can use your emergency jack to push the uca down against the wheel well.
Is your 6112 assembled right by any chance? The only time I could see your issue happening is if there too much lift going in there.

It was the lower control arm, and only the driver's side. Used the strap method to get the LCA up that little 1/2" I needed to get the angle right.
