Removing rain guard residue ??

Anyone have any tips to remove the left over residue after the door rain guards are taken off, without affecting the paint?

Bought my rig with them already off. That crud is really stuck on there and I'm sure there are adhesive removers that will do the job but I'm worried about rubbing the clear coat off at the same time.

Thanks

Try the auto parts store. They have removers for all kinds of things. I got some adhesive decal/stripes remover to take off the left over glue from stripes (on a Mustang) and it worked well. It would probably work to remove your glue residue. Also you can try using a hair dryer to heat the glue. That's what you do to remove vinyl stripes - heat the stripes a little at a time and the glue releases, and you pull off a couple of inches and move on.

I use 3M adhesive remover. Be patient and do a small section at a time. Then use Mequiars Ultimate compound. It helps if it's warm so let it sit in the sun for a bit or use a heat gun or hair dryer.

i agree with blizz86 goo gone.
goof off is little too strong and might remove some paint. goo gone should do the job. or rubbing alcohol (much cheaper)
