Removing side mirrors on 4th gen? need to paint

Hello all, I have a stock SR5, and was looking to DIY paint the mirrors. I hope to do this today, and I was wondering if you could advise me on how to take off the side mirrors? Do the door panels need to be removed? Are there just bolts, where are they?

I believe that the plastic trim on the inside in the corner of the window comes out (carefully, as it's held in by just a plastic tab), and then the mirror is held on with 3 bolts and a wiring harness that you unplug.

You can use the instructions to replace mirrors from the vendor, Muth. http://www.kwmuth.com

Just search for 4Runner and download the pdf that has the install for their replacement mirrors - it outlines how to remove the stock mirror assembly.

Post some pics once your done, as I've been wanting to do this as well. Was considering replacing my SR5 stock mirrors with the heated signals, figured do everything at the same time.

Thanks guys. I found some instructions on this forum by searching that someone wrote up, you actually have to remove the door panels to get to them, but once you have the instructions it's very simple to do. I have been taking detailed pictures throughout the process, and will post up a FULL DIY instructional thread with pictures. It may be a little while to post the pictures since I lost my digital camera cable and just ordered one today.
