Rented an SR5... wow!

Actually I think it does apply to Wranglers. It is insanely capable, not sure about the reliability part. I've heard enough to suggest otherwise.

This. My 41 year old FJ40 is more reliable than any Jeep wrangler I've ever owned. I'm all about the classic americana look and LOVE the styling of the 4 door wrangler, but I quit owning jeep products because I was tired of walking. If I had unlimited funds, I'd own a 4 door wrangler body on an FJ80 chassis/running gear, or build a clone fj40 on the same setup.

Jayceep you are imagining things nothing has changed in the suspension to reduce nose dive or handling

A simple adjustment to the brake portioning to send a bit more pressure to the rear could make a significant difference and we'd probably never know it happened. Not saying it did - just saying it could. IMO the biggest updates were the display cluster and sound dampening. OTOH I like the older front clip styling better.

ive owned 2 JKUs. my 07 was a tank, never had an issue. my 07 I traded in for this 4runner but I expect it would have been just as good. The only Jeep I have owned that had issues was my 06WK. It was a hunk o shit

Well I never said the suspension was changed. However, I did read the brake lines were changed so perhaps it's related to that. I found the nose dive is definitely not like it was on the 2013. With respect to handling, all I meant is I was rather impressed how it handles relative to the LE. I clocked 1,500 miles over 12 days so I had much more opportunity to have a fair comparison as opposed to a test-drive from the dealer. I drove all over California, thru the desert to Vegas, thru mountain passes, LA traffic, the coastal highway 1 from San Fran to Cambria etc. No test-drive can match that :D.

Yours is the 3rd post telling me that there were no major mechanical changes and I know that. My post might be a bit confusing because it wasn't supposed to be just a comparison between the pre-refreshed and refreshed SR5 but also between the refreshed SR5 and the LE that I own.

I drove a 2015 trail w/o kdss a couple of weeks ago and it had the same nose dive as ever.
I am surprised you find a sr5 to handle better than a limited with xreas. I also test drove a 15 sr5. I bought a 11 trail with kdss because I could not stand the handling of the sr5.

Perhaps it's subjective. I know others have posted on here that they felt there was an improvement, but it could also have been that "new car" placebo. Again, I had it for 1,500 miles so I had a pretty thorough experience. Also, I didn't say the SR5 handled better than my LE with XREAS- what I meant to say was that I was just pleased how it handled relative to my LE. Mind you, I have a 2012 pre-refreshed LE, so I don't have the extra perks in mine like memory seats, ventilated seats... but I think the improvement is more dramatic in the SR5 and is very good value.

Where did the trip take you? If you dnt mind.
Flew into LAX. Headed straight up I5 to San Fran. Hung out there for 3 nights. Left San Fran down Highway 1 to Monterey/Carmel. Overnighted in Monterey. Next day was a big day of driving: continued down Highway 1/Big Sur to Cambria. Cut over to Paso Robles via 46 for a brief vineyard tasting. Afterward, continued on 46->I5->58->I15 to Vegas that same night. 4 nights in Vegas. I5 back to LA and spent 2 nights in Beverly Hills. Last night at LAX for an early morning departure.

Man, I was surprised at how little guard rails are used on roads like Highway 1. There are way too many opportunities for a vehicle to tumble over cliffs. Same thing on a lot of these secondary highways like 46 and even the interstates through the mountain passes. Super sketchy on the West Coast but fun at the same time!

BTW, who rents 4Runners?

I'll be flying in to DEN to look at FoCo rental properties next month and I think it'd be cool to get one.

What do they run per day?

It was a complete fluke I got it! But, the company was Alamo. As I mentioned, I just rented a "Standard SUV" which was supposed to be a Hyundai Santa Fe or similar but when I got there all they had were Nissan Rogue's, Jeep Compass etc. No thanks. I booked for $305US for 12 days. The normal rate was like $550 as I had a reservation with National for the same price and cancelled when I grabbed this rate from Alamo. I checked the rate the very next day and it was back around $550. Can't believe I had a 4Runner for just over $25/day taxes in!

Why buy rentals so far away? lol
