I just picked up a 97 this past weekend. It has quite a bit of rust under the front bumper area. I changed the oil today and while I was down there I noticed the bottom of the radiator was pretty rusty looking and pretty brittle to the touch. I am planning on flushing the coolant but do u thing I should just replace the whole dam thing. And if I do should I flush before I change the radiator just to make sure no old fluid from the engine goes I to the knew one? Trying to bring this baby back to life she needs lots of love. Came from Hawaii to Cali so has a few busted rusty parts.
Replace the radiator??

IIRC they do require some extra hose. I would also suggest, especially being in California, that you look into a larger cooler, the B&M 70264 at the very least and perhaps one even larger.

Most will share this opinion, go with Toyota red 50/50 with distilled water. Some will say any EG antifreeze, but that Toyota stuff is excellent and keeps the insides or cooling systems pristine. In a hot climate you may get away with 45 antifreeze and 55 water to keep engine temps down slightly, but it shouldn't affect it either way, 50/50 is the golden number.
