Replaced JBL head. Big gap!

Hi all,

I just replaced the JBL head unit in my 2004 Limited with a single-din JVC, using one of Crutchfield's fit kits. The unit is in and working fine, but now I have a huge gap all the way around the head unit and tray.

I did some research and found the Urban Runner trim, and it looks like it might solve my problem, but I haven't seen anybody use it with a single din stereo. In theory, the Crutchfield kit fills a double din space, but I want to be sure the the Urban Runner trim will work before I drop $100.

In looking at pictures, it seems the sides will be filled nicely, but I'm concerned about the depth along the bottom. Would the trim fill the space from the temp controls back to the tray?

Anybody have any pictures of their single din units with Urban Runner trim?

I would contact Crutchfield and tell them about the issue first - surely they sent you the wrong one, it shouldn't be like that.

Crutchfield should take care of you but just for reference, I used a Scosche unit, P/N TA2041BLKB with my single din on my 05 Sport.

here's the fit:

OK, I'm an idiot. I ordered the "non-RDS" when apparently I did have RDS.

I still wonder if the Urban Runner trim would work. The alternative is tearing my entire dash apart (again), re-running wires, etc. Urban Runner trim simply snaps in, and would save me at least an hour or more that could be used on other projects in the garage... I mean spending time with the family :ballchain:
