Replaced radiator and flushed trans = pink milkshake?

I'm looking at a used 98 SR5 with 164000 miles. The owner had all this detailed maintenance info from the previous owner, which included a radiator replacement, trans flush, timing belt and water pump replacement about 10k miles ago.

Does a replaced radiator and trans flush automatically mean it had a pink milkshake issue? Could this have been preventative maintenance?

Idk if I should look up the previous owner in the phonebook or what. The truck has the lowest rust ive seen from the 6 I've looked at. It drove 100% fine, no trans slips or issues at all. This one seemed perfect until I saw the maintenance book.

Any input would be appreciated.

If the trans was going to die due to a pink milkshake, it would have done it some time in the past 10,000 miles. I think you don't need to worry about that.

So you're looking at a 4R that has had a recent timing belt swap as well as a new radiator? I say it's a win.

You could always bypass the radiator anyway for the added insurance...

If someone were to buy my 4runner, they may suspect the milk shake because I had the tranny flushed right when I purchased it from the dealer and I installed a new radiator myself because I found out that the milk shake was possible so I went ahead and replaced the radiator to prevent it. If its gone 10k miles and there isn't any sign of slipping, I would lean more towards it was preventable maintenance, but that's just guessing.

Hmmmm reading over your post again, so the owner that is selling it has had it for less than 10k miles? If that's the case, that is a red flag in my book.

I did the radiator replacement as a maintenance item at the dealer (had a nice coupon) and had the dealer do a transmission flush at the same time - so a receipt with both may not mean trouble

What are you going to do about it if it was? I suspect the very same thing if it wasn't. Drive it, when it fails, replace it.

My radiator was replaced due to it being time and I didnt want it to fail randomly. 100k+ is time to think about replacing it if you are a preventative type.
