Replacement Key - Ace Hardware

I did my spare key the hard way a while ago - Ebay, TIS etc.

Looks like Ace Hardware may have a reasonable solution to duplicate keys.
They provide a chip key and program it for $69. If it does not work, there is no charge.
I asked about the programming and they don't touch the car except to make sure it's yours and you have a working key. Looks like they read your key, then set that code in the replacement chip key. Sounds cleaver, no TIS immobilizer programming.

Wanted to share this to help others save $$ on keys. They don't provide a key with the remote buttons, so it's a usable spare key but with manual door locks etc.

Cloned keys aren't new, they only become and issue when you need to wipe the module clean and start over and all you have is collectively 1 key ID.
