Replacement Transmission Question

Well I was hoping I could get this transmission built up before I destroyed it, but I was too late! It won't shift at WOT to 2nd gear, slips big time. So I am sourcing a used one with under 100K.

My question is how far out from my build date, 2/98, should I look?

Should I keep it to within that year model, or would a transmission from a 2/97, for example, work?

I think they changed the trans in 6/99. So up to a mid-year 1999. I do not know what changed in 6/99 but I have noticed specs for 4R A340F changed at that time. I would like to know changed at that time if anyone cares to share.

I know a lot of things changed from running off of vacuum pressure to being electronic, but might not have much to do with the trans.

I think I may try shimming the accumulator springs and see if that will breathe some life into this one
