replacement windshield (?)

I'm about to revisit a phantom water leak, causing dampness under the drivers floor. I've read that the vast majority of these issues are due to poorly installed replacement windshields. My windshield is labeled "Pilkington." Is it a replacement? Are all originals labeled with "Toyota?" I just wanted to double check. I thought I read something somewhere to the effect that Pilkington might have been an OEM supplier.... Thanks.

My OEM windshield has TOYOTA on it as does all of my other glass on my T4R and I think all Toyotas do as well but I can't attest to that.

Mine says Pilkington. It is that hydrophobic...or whatever that glass is that's supposed to shed water. If I had to get a new one I think I would avoid that feature if possible.
I never replaced it and have had this runner since it was a baby.

its a replacement, factory will have the the toyota stamped on the glass like all other glass in the truck.

Well I have had my 2004 since 2004, pretty sure it was never replaced.
Looking at my 1992 4runner... that I got with 12miles on it, is not a "Toyota" either, it is a PPG, and I never replaced that one either.

Hmm... usually all the glass should have "Toyota" stamped on it at least on anything newer.

Pilkington is one of Toyota's suppliers though, so I wouldn't entirely doubt it being a factory windshield. Just interesting it doesn't have the "Toyota" stamp that adds a few hundred dollars to the cost of the part. I'd check mine, but it's a replacement glass and I don't even think it's Pilkington (probably need to get a new on in the near future... lot of small divets)

I just got mine replaced to fix leaks, wind noise, rust, sandblasting, etc. The old one was Pilkington, and whoever installed it did a terrible job. The new glass is Fuyao. I had it installed at Safelite and the install seems OK, but not great.

It seem that some T4Rs may have Pilkington windshields as OEM but I'm still not sure, they were founded in the United Kingdom in 1826 but are now owned by a Japanese company...Nippon Sheet Glass, as far as being OEM for T4Rs the following is from Pilkington's website.....

My 2¢ as I just replaced my windshield less then a month ago.

I am very satisfied with Pilkington. The glass has no imperfections that I can find, it clears really well with the wipers, and doesn't not collect dirt easily. The glass is the best I ever used. Cleaning the windshield is a breeze, and rain seems to sheet right off.

The installation was done by Affordable Window Tinting in Tucson, AZ and I am giving them a plug. They also installed Xpell on my headlights. Am going back to them to do the fog lamps soon and will also seal off my sunroof at the same time. So here's big thumbs up for AWT.

I can highly recommend the Pilkington. :bigok:

Thanks for the replies. All my other windows say Toyota, but I've seen that web link that AuSeeker posted so it made me wonder. I read about aftermarket installs that left the holes in A pillar uncovered by adhesive and/or not replaced the plastic piece that seems to plug those up, allowing rain water to leak into the A pillar and run down to the floor board. I had tested this with the carpet pulled up and the kick panels removed to try and see if mine was doing that. It didn't look like it at the time, it seemed more like it was possibly coming from over near the center console area, maybe under the floor A/C vents (condensation?) I read about an A/C relay mod/fix where faulty relays caused the compressor to stay engaged and pump too much coolant into the system and cause excessive condensation. But, I'm not sure if I have that going on. Can anyone describe the relay fix? Although, I'm virtually certain that my compressor cycles like normal.... Eh... so frustrating.
