Replacing front and rear diffs at separate times?

Hey all, I have what is probably a simple question to many on here, but I am obviously trying to be overly cautious to avoid tearing up a brand new diff(s) or my Xfer case.

2000 Sr5 4x4 JShift
Taco manual hubs

I've got a newly built 4.88 front diff on the floor right now.
I dont have my new 4.88 rear built yet.

Can I go ahead and install the 4.88 front diff, and still drive the truck in 2WD and the front hubs unlocked?

Not going to be able to address the rear for a couple of months.

Obviously, running in 4x4 is a no-go. Locking the front is a no-go.

Any issues with running around in 2WD with mismatched gears front/rear?

I installed my rear 4.88's first, a week later (160 miles) I put in my front diff. Kept it in 2wd and had no issues. It made the break in process (driving easy) longer but no big deal. Make sure you change the diff oil at 500 miles and stay the heck out of 4wd. I did rear first so i'm not sure if front first is an issue. I highly doubt it is.

That's perfectly fine as long as you don't put it in 4wd
