so my 1998 v6 4x4 didn't pass smog for high n0. after replacing the 02 sensor do i have to unplug the battery. and then will it throw codes ?and then do i have to do a drive cycle ? I need to take it back to get rechecked

Thanks for the info. No I didn't have a check engine light. I don't think it was throwing any codes either. From what I read I thought it was the 02sensor. But I didn't want to guess and just throw money at it so I got it looked at and they said it was the 02 sensor and wanted to charge me 500 bucks to fix it. So I took it back and did it my self, super easy. Now I just need to test for codes. Thanks again
So I replaced the 02 sensor super easy. I drove it for a week and had it tested with a scanner and it said the cat hadn't done its test. I took it to smog anyway and it passed. But the NO was still kinda high. Any way thanks for the good info saved a little money
