Replacing Stock JBL Sub in 4th Gen, Amp Question

Hi, my sub blew yesterday and I've been weighing my replacement options but I don't know an awful lot about audio.

I was looking at putting this sub as a replacement but I'm not sure if it'll be compatible with the stock Amp.

What do you guys recommend for a speaker that'll work with the stock amp and have audio quality on par with the stock setup? I don't want any problems.

Ok so I've made a little progress, an audio shop worker recommended this sub to me to use with the stock amp and system.

Now it should work but my only question is what about the difference between Wattage? I read on here that the stock amp is 45 watts rms and ~90 watts max, but the speaker cited above is 150 watts rms and 600 watts peak. How much will this wattage different effect sound and speaker longevity?

In my opinion the stock amp isn't adequate for that sub. I would wire in a separate amp to drive the sub. Subs can be killed with less than speced RMS wattage.

I was in the same situation as you not too long ago. I chose to replace the amp entirely with a 5 channel along with all speakers, and couldn't be happier with my decision. I just felt like it would be a vicious cycle and the new sub would over power the factory speakers. Then I would want to replace the speakers later on down the road, so I just decided to take it apart once and replace everything. It can be done nicely fairly easy, for not to much coin.
